Bartlett, IL (August 29, 2016) — Auto Truck Group, a work truck upfitter specializing in the design, manufacture and installation of equipment, announces that it has entered into a new agreement with Mercedes-Benz to offer ship-thru service for the Mercedes van product line. Auto Truck Group is further recognized as a preferred vehicle upfitter granted an exclusive Mercedes Master Solutions™ designation.“
We are very excited about our new relationship with Mercedes and expect the Sprinter and Metris van models to be core series for our upfit customers,” says Jim Dondlinger, President of Auto Truck Group. In support of its new relationship with Mercedes and the expansion of its ship-thru program, Auto Truck Group is set to open a new facility in eastern South Carolina strategically situated just seven miles from the Mercedes van plant that just broke-ground on a $500 million addition. The forthcoming Auto Truck Group service center, located at 211 Farmington Road, Suite C, Summerville, SC, is expected to be operational by October 1st of this year.
Auto Truck Group currently has ship-thru service with four major OEM’s (Original Equipment Manufacturers) including Chrysler, General Motors, Ford and Toyota. That number increases to five with the addition of Mercedes. “Our geographic spread into the southeast U.S. and expansion of our ship-thru capabilities are a significant part of our overall growth plan. It positions us for new opportunities and enables us to better serve our customers,” reveals Dondlinger. When customers order Mercedes vans and use the Auto Truck Group ship-thru code, the vehicles will be sent directly to Auto Truck Group’s Summerville, SC, facility for any upfitting needs. Once complete, the vehicles will be returned to the plant to be entered into Mercedes’ transportation system to the end destination.
Auto Truck Group provides specialized design, manufacturing and installation of truck equipment for all kinds of customers and a variety of industries.
